Lost To Me A Distant Sound

Tears fall from a babies eyes Mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles All love ones in-between Gone is your touch But I feel your presence everywhere Knowledge you gave me I now understand You were the present under the Christmas tree In the stars I see the twinkle of your eyes In winters preview, I feel the warmth of you On holidays when joy prevails I close my eyes and feel your smile In times of panic, your voice sooths me These things and many more you left behind Get me through troubled times I will be with you soon My mother, my father, my aunt and uncle And all love ones in-between A lifetime being but a wink in God's eye As I enter eternity where we all will rest We look down at our children's children Knowing the knowledge we leave behind Will help them to achieve their best Jimm j. 3/20/00 The death of my aunt inspired this poem

Mind Boggle

His mind open His own furry Lingering in thought Imaginary image's pass him by Not knowing When the nightmare began Or the origin of his sin That lay's deep within him Jimmy j. 6/99

The Gun The Results

Be not afraid of any man, no matter what his size When larger than you is he, call on me and I will equalize BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT! Bumble bees fly, stingers of lead Children lay dead Her baby dies, a mother cries Do you feel their pain Another drive by You with the gun, with shit for brains What is it, piss that runs through your veins? You bought a radio for 40 dollars you say and the tunes don't play What's that got to do with a child of six shes not part of the mix Hey you who sold him the tunes you couldn't give him back his 40 -- you spent it too soon. A senseless death because two assholes had met A baby dies A mother cries All because guns are too much in supply. jimmy j 3/01/02 --- This poem is about the murder of Ajanee Pollard, age 7. The wounding of her brother Jason, age 6 and two others along with their mother. ALL over a 40 dollar radio that didn't work. One too stubborn or too stupid to give the money back and another too crazy, so he killed over it! Time of day: 12:30 p.m. Place: West side of Detroit Date: February 27th, 2002

Earth Mother

I'm the product of earth Nursed by her nature of being Her rivers flow through me The bowels of her body feed me I live as she lives Only to die when she dies Jimmy j 3/7/02 11:45 a.m. As I sit here alone I write this poem

A Lesson Learned

People drive by but do they see Work but do they live Structure of life much to fast Take time to reflect on the past So the future you seek Not to end in retreat Over and over again the same mistakes Only to learn a day too late One more soul to cremate A lesson learned A body burned Jimmy j. 1:40 p.m. 3/7/02

Matters Not

I look forward to meeting you This greeter of heavens gate A unknown angel who opens doors Matters not if your pimp or whore Rich or poor carry no special key Catholics, Protestants , Jews, denominations of every kind Matters not , all can walk through Black, white, yellow, brown colors of skin not available to wear The color of love the only color to see The one available to you and me Gone is poverty and despair Gone are kingdoms of wealth The poor shall be rich, and the rich shall be poor Only to be judged by what you did before you arrived here No drinking, no smoking, no drugs allowed Many of these things brought you here Lost is all that pain and sorrow Lost is that two faces many people wear Lost is that serpent tongue that lashes out Spilling words from your foul mouth OH YES , OH YES, I look forward to meeting you This greeter of heavens gate Peace instead of pain, Joy instead of sorrow Love instead of hate A unknown road of tomorrow Where money buys nothing Love brings you everything Don't cry for me when my time has come The stars at my feet, Angels by my side I have finally arrived Jimmy j 5/02

My Baby's Dead

Amari Ware, a shining star born twenty months ago Now she's gone Her road not very long Never to learn to run or walk Say ma, ma, or even talk We will never get to hug her Or kiss her soft golden cheeks She might have made a difference In a world of indifference A world of violence and death The answer to confrontation many seek Daddy, daddy, were you not waiting to hear those lovely words What insanity was in your mind You murdered your daughter, to whom you should have only been kind My tears, my tears they flow from my eye's Out of control I will not lie You too I wish to die For you I have no compassion My only wish to be your assassin Jimmy j 7/02

I'm A Poet

A masturbater of words As I masturbate, words come outI'm A Poet The words turn into drugs, addicted to them I write, I write again and again As you look at me what, what do you see Close your eyes and really see me The words, the words their thunderstorms in my brain I cannot refrain Can you feel me, can you really, really feel me Drugs, drugs they're everywhere, fuck I know them well I use them too That's why I'm talking to you Murder, robbery, children dying, gang violence, poverty Despair lack of education I have been there before, only to return again and again Jails I have seen the inside of them Schools never spent much time in one Too busy hanging on corners Having what I thought was fun Education, education I preach to the young Don't be a fuck up like me, get one We are all slaves to this corporate dream Companies go broke That parachute scheme executives make Damn that's no joke They end up with millions While the rest of us go broke They make so much more, by paying us less It's time we make them take the drug test I look at this new downtown All these white faces, all around Fuck where did they all come from They never lived in this town Ever notice how may white coppers there are Never lived here, they came from afar Let's write of Africa, you heard, what the millennium Lady had to say No water, but slavery still there, everywhere What's the matter America, no oil there What of priest, inside a zipper is their Last Supper Little boys suffer Looking for God Instead got a blow job What of nuns, damn don't they have fun I'd like to do one So much more to write about This hypocrisy we see, you and me Yes I'm a masturbater of words My pen and my peter With two hands left and right I can do both tonight Love Jimmy j 6-1-02

Born Dead

Born DeadBabies getting high Before they learn to cry Mothers getting stoned Babies in the womb Bellies with no love Nothing but a tomb Mothers live the lie Don't even try One day out of the womb Now I need a fix Mother why you put me in this mix Sick, hungry and cold I'm only one day old Your tits full of drugs A body full of bugs Shed no tear for me Drugs all you see Conceived out of money Never to be mothers honey Do you know who's my father A name, no you didn't bother For a little cash You let him hit that ass I'm only one day old Sick, hungry and cold Now I need a fix Mother you started this When I get a little older My mannerisms will be a little colder I will supply you with dope You gave me no hope Only to be judged as bad Fuck them, never had no dad Never had a mother Just a mother fucker Sitting now in a jail, old, hungry and cold Sentenced to death, crimes the judge called bold What a joke you see I DIED BEFORE I EVER CRIED Love Jimmy j Wrote this sitting on the curb at 9:00 a.m. 6/21/02 watching the world go by

Death of a Street Soldier

Ifresse Hall, nicknamed Fezzy, age 20 Murdered on Kilbourne Hell's Kitchen A Young Street Soldier A Gang Member, A Member No More Flowers which never have a chance to bloom Called much too early to their tomb Educated by the streets of hypocrisy Ruled by the violence of Mobcracy There is no beginning, or no end Today I have lost a friend Jimmy j

City Streets

Heart of the city Beats erratic and fast Young boy's with goal's Plenty of ass and plenty of cash Plundering neighborhood's Not knowing their creation is trash Indwelling in figment Never being taught the fact's Indulging in indissoluble futures But it us who do not react No beginning towards legitimately Tragedy is their legacy

Free Stallion

What is it of you Who does not understand Chains of society Released from me Drugs, alcohol, violence A given for my pleasure Wild stallion, running free Not of your world for me to seek 9 to 5 not binding me I know I am wrong Your road to long Rules and regulations heard it all before Been there done that Time to change Sorry don't want to sit under the Christmas tree Stallion running free that's for me You I do not understand Life from beginning to end Monopoly values to flash Always wanting pockets full of cash Nothing left for me Running stallion running free 15 minutes of fame not in my game Life lived fast and loose Imprisonment and death my choice to be No chains abound I may chose death before you imprison me My life to be wild and free Your world to modern Everyone tame you call us insane Be as it may My hair never to turn gray I love you that you should know Wild stallion sitting in me Running, running free Asinine the world will say Living through my day Your wish for change riding on me No thanks a running stallion running free No one to sit on top of me Now I can only hope You understand uncomplicated me Jimmy j

HELP

Born to a mother of uncontrolled desires Wandering unforgiving streets for hire No one to irradiate what he requires Living through the thunder of gun fire Divergence must occur for the needs he must acquire Without a mentor chances are at a young age he will expire

Intombed

SITTING HERE ALONE JAIL OR TOMB HERE TO STAY OR GO ALONE BUT WHERE MAKE ME INTO A ENVELOPE STAMPS IN PLACE SEND ME HOME In honor of my friend Samual Tourmina, whoreceived a life sentence, in the state of Michigan, who always yearned for freedom but died in Jackson prison. Jimmy j 6/91

Mycity

My mother, my mother they thought you to old But with great pride, your story will be told Your womb ready to give birth to a new history yet untold My mother, my mother, you must tread carefully So there is room for all your children young and old My mother, my mother give me shelter when I am cold Keep me safe from the bad who are so bold Let me help you my mother Because there is no other When I say your name with great pride I need not hide When I say Detroit I know everything will be alright

No one

One had a gun One had none One would walk away One would stay Two mothers would weep One a funeral parlor she would seek One visible through bars as she took a peek Who won? NO ONE Published in 2002 in a Norway magazine called "Rasisme"

The mob

They funnel their energy Through violent abuse Abstracted from meaning, their life is abstruse They rule their domain by mobocracy Educated by the streets of hypocrisy Not knowing their life is in despair No remembrance of anyone to care Their life is headed nowhere

Voices

I enter the darkness of day From the lightness of night The shadow follows me constantly The voices are always a fright Never starting never stopping In this world alone out of control Know it will never be alright

Drugs in the Ghetto

Life in the five and dime

NICKLE COCKS, DIME ROCKS THEIR FANTASY BEGINS THEIR BELLIGERENT DAY BEGINS AS IT ENDS OVER AND OVER AGAIN NEVER BELONGING, ONLY LONGING FOR THEIR FANTASY NEVER TO END NO METHOD TO HER MADNESS, JUST SELLING HER NICKLE COCK FOR A DIME ROCK OVER AND OVER AGAIN MATTERS NOT BLACK OR WHITE, THEY’RE ONLY MISSION IN LIFE THE GRADAFACTION AS THE DRUGS MALIGNANCY BEGINS NO NIGHT NO DAY ALL MAKE BELIEVELIVING IN MAKE SHIFT HOMES TOMBS OF DESPAIR CHASEING THE HIGH, NEVER TO FLY ON THE BOTTOM OVER AND OVER AGAIN THEY MALINGER IN THOUGHT BECAUSE THE DRUG HAS TAUGHT IT’S MALICIOUS WAY

Five Dollar Whore

I am a $5.00 whore of which I have no regret It gives me a $5.00 hit And I thank your for it What about you "You $5.00 trick" You deserve what your going to get A doctor you will seek You $5.00 creep We have no respect No doctors to get a check Our body's so meek Year after year walking the street Looking for a $5.00 fix FIND ME A $5.00 TRICK

Either Or

They wander the streets to sell what they have Often looking to steal to have what they want Their bodies for sale, so they can inhale They have disconnected from life, to live Such too tragic tale, always wanting to get higher To which I can avail But it only has one outcome to be dead or in jail

Hidden From View

He drank the snake blood of the street Sang the song of ones so meek Dwelled in worlds far from the normality of mankind Not to be understood Because he does not understand Worlds apart, yet the same He expanded his mind Looked from above like an eagle Looking down seeing all the lies Jealousy, hate, greed, people with two faces All he wished to do is hide

Know Me

I see their madness in the darkness of light. Intangibles in the ways of life. In bottles, or rocks, the extremes of insanity prevail. Never trusting, only hearing voices and unconscious minds. Never ending voices everywhere. Unconscionable desires for the nectar of their madness. Never no end to their sadness. Conscious for briefs period of time. Not desiring a conscionable mind. They do what they most to return to that fantasyland. Returning to their tombs of despair. Always being nowhere.

Life

he weeps in the night his dreams recurring and frightening he does not wish to awake when he awakes his dreams will not abate his realities are worst than the dreams he will await

Life In Conflict

Thunder pounding relentlessly in his brain Wondering streets of despair Plundering, on and on, no night, no day No understanding, no pain Lusting for the drugs delight Make shift tombs, nothing sane Insanity prevails Constant conflict with imaginary voices Never stopping over and over again Heart's pounding, racing, a volcano fueled by drugs Erupting in violence from lack of refrain Not loving, feeling not understanding He cares not, no realization of truth Believing his lie's if only to retain his flight No method to his madness Just chasing the high, never to fly No one can help Till he helps himself His destiny a deathbed of regret

Lost

Wander, wander everywhere, lost in despair Wanton of life, never in repair Houses that will feed them a $10.00 cube That leads their life to such despair Dissipated minds connected to nothing Only looking for the $10.00 something.

Mother

mother, mother I do not want your addiction do you not know of loves restrictions when you close your eyes do you not see loving thoughts of me fragile laying deep inside of thee are you blind to me, is the dope all you see do you feel no obligation when I finally leave your womb you have sentenced me to drug addictions TOMB

No Control

Insulated from the outside world Fornicating the drugs euphoria of being Not believing in normal feelings Higher & higher with no relief Just one more hit Then I will quit A fool always to be Not believing the drug controls me Lying to family & friends What do they know I am not with them Looking in the mirror what do I see Only the ghost that stands beside me Voices in the wall and behind the trees My eyes & ears available to these Mothers, fathers, sisters and sons, money please I will tell you any lie, just to appease Have to stay high, so I don't see the realization of me Always to be the drugs whore Till death or jail closes the door Jimmy j

No Other

When drugs is your lover There can be no other No sister, no brother No mother or father to be No son or daughter to truly see The drugs true story A life of grief On the streets of no relief Stupidity is all you gain When drugs take over your brain Read my words my sister, my brother Take control or death or jail is all you will ever gain Jimmy j

Smoke in the Air

Lost not knowing his despair Blowing, blowing smoke in the air Sirens in the distance Louder and louder soon they would be there Laying on the floor unconscious The drugs delight Put him there Coming out of the drugs choke hold Not wanting their help Begging them to leave Only wanting his stem Smoke, Smoke in the air His only desire Only with the coroner He will retire

Life

Daydream

People condemn others for what they are or have become The mirror shows no reflection Eyes seeing only the minds intention Till tragedy brings about our resurrection

Freedom

Boom, Boom like thunder a distant sound Lighting like flashes from the grounds morning dew Closer and closer Mama I am afraid of the storm Dearest daughter that’s the bells of freedomFor our people everywhere Smell of gun powder death abounds Rivers and creeks running red with blood Stench of death overflowing Thunderous cannons shaking the ground Booms of freedom, our distant friends The price of freedom a heavy toll Free from slavery’s chains at lastSlave to freedom the hard road to begin 40 acres and a mule is what they said A lie on which we will grow old Hunger, pain and sorrow traveling the unknown road of tomorrow Droplets of tears, a babies eyes My breasts run dry, as I listen to my babies cry’sA hurricane twisting inside Hands blistered from picking cotton Barefoot, hungry and cold, the masters cruelty prevails Many lay dead My women’s treasure stole from me, the masters pleasureBurning in my mind as I travel the road ahead His whip still stinging me in my sleep Help me my lord get on with the flight Hatred everywhere, their eyes burning, the devils fire Decade after decade In search of freedoms bed Till the day I am not judge by the color of skin But the man I am When life is all over And my body has been burned I will ask of you then Which color I am Jimmy j

Loves Color

Color of skin lay only in depth Man's true color embed in one's chest In each heart beat, love will shine No matter what kind Close your eye's, what do you see Open your arm's know the touch of me A world of difference, yet all the same No time to let love refrain Jimmy j

Nothing

Nothing is something to somebody Arriving from love We build our monuments there The greatest of goal's already received From birth to death No tomb's of despair Wealth a facade of life's true desire Love is the only thing we truly need to acquire

No Time

A poor man does not understand time of day. Only of a day in time. Matters not which day or what time, only a time to make a move. Starting his listless day over and over again.

Resumption

Everything different Yet nothing has changes Presumption of knowledge Prosperity through

Space

WHY DOES THIS SPACE MEAN SO MUCH TO THOSE IN THIS SQUARE TO DWELL IS IT A PLACE LIKE NO OTHER OR IS IT THE OTHER AND NEITHER IS OF CONSEQUENCE OF ONE ANOTHER IT IS NEITHER HEAVEN NOR HELL

Thinking Of You

True love and friendship is not lost In the absence of life But is strengthened through the feelings of thought In the absence of life The abundance of the thoughts of love And friendships live forever

What's Up

What it is that you know Of what you say Do you understand the reason That gets you through the day Do you care of your fellow man as much as you can Are you so self indulgent That you see not the plight of the human race It is your final steps you will be forced to trace

Mother Earth

The Awakening of Day

When life seems so pale People hold you in disregard Your world up side down All you do is frown When night has passed Morning sun in full escape Wanting to last and last Flowers in full bloom Dew on the morning grass Let your troubles escape See the spectacular landscape Don't start your troubled day Around people who have nothing else to convey Stop, think what awaits you With the awakening of each day

Destiny Traveler

No money, fame or mansions of glory What is it I have to show In my life's story Joy and sorrow put to past What is it I leave behind Not monuments of bricks and stone Life has no meaning in personal glory You come to see me on Sunday But what of the rest Do I not lay in state, inside your chest It is what I have taught And learned from those I love Nothing left behind Words on paper tell my story No color or races of different kinds Only people hand and hand Headed to my fathers promise land Jimmy j

Egg Hunt

Beauty of the flesh For the eyes to behold Morals so cold The story of birth, two in love Making way for their child A beautiful dove Can there be any more glory In loves true story I will have no other Just one mother The egg of birth which belongs to me Only fertilized by the father to be A web auction of models eggs brought this to me. Vanity is alive in America but at what Price?????

Happy Mother's Day

To the mother of all mothers' the one who gave me mine Hers and every hers in the world do tell how many wished you well Your hat is like crystal chandeliers sparkling in the night all these stars to feast my sight Your arms spread wide one hand the moon full with romantic nights the other the sun to give me light Oh what a sight you are to behold your story must always be told They build mansion of there personal glory over your belly of birth They breath pollution in your mouth where the breath of your glory gave me air They cement over your breast which gave me food of life They drop bombs and missiles to crack your body in such despair They misuse your oceans lakes and rivers like they were theirs to put in disrepair You gave us everything we have Yet how many do care But me for one who breaths your air and eats from your body the foods of life Will always know that you are there Till the day my body will be in your care

Night Stroll

The wind whispers in the chill of night Moon beams, facets of light The shadows of life abound everywhere Leafs rustling as they fall in rustic delight Stars so bright, like crystal chandeliers Sparkling from earths ceiling This is everyone's night Paths of discovery through timbers and bush The dress of mother earth, basics of life Night creatures scurry about here and there Walking hand and hand not caring where Two hearts palpitating, love we feel and See from the mother on which we tread Laying now on your soft green bed Seeing your out stretched hands of night No gems could give us such delight Thank you my mother for a wonderful night Jimmy j 8/00

Seeds of Life

Mother earth seeds implanted in the Carefully tended beautiful flowers to see Nourished by love A reflection of what we wish the world to be Mother of life A precious seed entrusted to thee Great care and love For this baby to breath One to stand abreast to you and me Mother earth When my body lays within your womb What I leave behind Will stand the test of time A monument to life A eternity of delight

Traveled Roads

We travel roads that lead here and there Often we end up nowhere Why do we travel the path we take We know it is our mistake What leads us from right to wrong It's much to long We need to adjust our sights for the path ahead So we don't end up in the devils bed God is who we need, when were dead Our souls will know of Gods good grace As we stand there face to face Jimmy j

His Mask

His mask in place He hides his face Not wanting you or me to see His world in toil A life, failed to be Alone in his brain Hideous thoughts remain The world fading from refrain Being special is only in his brain

Ignorance

Surrounded by ignorance Expelling energy of thought To those with no tolerance to understand Sitting their ass in despair Ending up nowhere Listening to one another thoughts With great care We learn the greatest knowledge of life Developed from people everywhere Jimmy j

John's World

He sits in the darkness of day light What world does his mind dwell in Only to see what he wishes to see His ears hear what he wishes them to hear He no longer knows what he will say or has said No longer young, but far from old He has no goals, his world consist of thee He knows everything, but yet his life consist of nothing But for thee It is all he wants, all he seeks He sets no example for you or me A mentor he will never be He ask that his life be extended as long as can be No matter how expensive that may be He has no money anyway you see He leaves all that up to you and me

Love

You have given me something I hope with no regret I will never return it I expect Through joy and sorrow It is the only thing I look forward to Each tomorrow

Merry Christmas

It was the night before Christmas I hear the sirens in the darkness of night My screams my screams, they prevail Blood, blood from her arms, like running water from a pail Another attempt to leave this life will fail But at the age of 5, I do not understand What was her darkness, that screamed at her in the night The questions unanswered, left to haunt me Why, why did you not wish to prevail Mother, mother I love you mother "My memories at age 5"

Poverty

What is it of poverty That enriches my life What do I gain through strife Behind me Still I return in my mind Happiness so easy at that stage of life Two faces of life Which was better I can only tell you at night Jimmy j

Street Wonderer

Look, but see not Hear, but not listen Touch, but do not feel Walk ,but know not where Forgotten, but know not why Poor, but do not care Imprisoned, but know not where All of these because My mind has took me there Jimmy j

Tomorrow

Mother, Father thought's of you Life Black and Blue Misery dripped in blood Food found, street's abound A drip here, a drop there Enough to survive The devils alive Constant memories of you arrive My mind always knowing where I want you back Even the way it was A life deprived Our love of family still alive Beyond death and sorrow I will think of you Each Tomorrow Jimmmy J

View

What is it I am looking for That finds itself lost to me What is it hidden from view Do I really wish to see What is it I gain When I do not understand my reality Is it knowledge I seek Or is knowledge I wish to seek me How can I know what I have not learned All these things above I have great concern But in due time I hope I will learn Hopefully before my body will burn Jimmy j

Words

Words, words thunder storms in my brain Wondering there meaning No thought to complain Pen put to paper I cannot explain Release of thought Not known to me But feel no accomplishment if I refrain Not knowing What I have gained Words, words what is it I seek of you Or is this the writing of an intangible fool Jimmy j 8/00

The Parade

The parade, as I read in both papers about this great achievement of the Detroit Red Wings winning the Stanley Cup and the parade it will produce. I keep thinking of Jerry Woods who through such despair got a high school diploma along with all the other high school young men and women who graduated this year. I think of the dedicated teachers at Trombly School and other schools who have to mentor and teach many children of broken homes. I think of the fathers who stab or killed another father over a sports event. The events that we celebrate with parades for winning!!! Don't get this letter wrong. I am all for this parade, but I would like to ask why don't we, this great city start something new and much bigger than a high school prom. A graduation parade that celebrates teachers and students who earns a diploma, after all they are our future and the greatest achievement of all. Just think of it, the first city in America to have a parade to learning achievements. To whoever reads this ask your son or daughter what they think. Jimmy j 6/02

THEM

It's OK to run Hide from the dumb With education they greet But not wanting to meet You, you from the street It's OK to hide But no need to run It is them who is dumb Not understanding your jest Someday it is your knowledge They will request Jimmy j 3/00 Them My picture & poem were published in a Norway magazine, Rasisme in 2000.

Rockys Prayer

If you added more Ice, then the cooler the chillRockys Prayer But do you or don't you need more Christ to know The true ruler for real I feel deep down this isn't a session to dodge But I find hard to sleep now Can I question my God? Why did I have to get shot to learn the ropes Why do I over indulge in liquids that burn my throat It's ironic that selling Chronic gave me so much Sometimes drink hurts so much I vomit Can you save this lush Why didn't I grow up with a golden spoon in my mouth All I want is something normal Nothing formal Just a groom and a spouse Why couldn't we grow up with more room in the house Why did you take pop's Leaving mom with seven How could I remain calm looking for ways to heaven With all that's going on how could I praise the reverend? God, you know I love you Just walk with a player I know you can't answer this orally But just talk through prayer One Love Rocky Written by my friend Rocky 8/1/02
